gramercy arms
I'm not sure if this counts as "archival" but it's edited so well and it makes me happy.
Check out Gramercy Arms. They're a combination of every other band you love:
Gramercy Arms is a collective of New York-based artists comprising former members of Guided By Voices, Luna, Joan as Police Woman, The Dambuilders, Fuzzy and Too Much Joy. Their self-titled debut album features guest performances by Sarah Silverman, Lloyd Cole, Chris Brokaw as well as present and former members of Nada Surf, The Pernice Brothers, Dead Air, Fan Modine, Diesel, Elk City, Space Needle, Reservoir, Mascott, Shudder to Think, Scarce, Eve’s Plum and others.
See. I wasn't kidding.

A Moment's Peace for Mary Christa O'Keefe from Beau Lark on Vimeo.
So, it snowed here for like 10 minutes, I'm over excited and want to make miniature snow angels.

war on drugs - needle in your eye
The video is made entirely of clips from the Prelinger Archive of Moving Images at the fantastic resource, archive.org. So thanks to them for providing such an amazing service, and such great quality Public Domain films. Long live remix culture!
Adam, of War on Drugs, is a talented guy and the I was glad to see this album, Wagonwheel Blues make plenty of people's Best of 2008 lists.NYE roundup
So, I'm late on posting about NYE. But I don't care. I had a fancy APC dress on that night so I'm putting it up regardless. It's my FutureGirl Dress. SHINY

On any given day her purse is riddled with glitter and you're likely to catch some off her. She's like a fairy.
I took that picture at whatever time it was I got home and was about to take it all off before I realised we really didn't take any pictures all night. I was also hyper and bored. Self portraits were inevitable.

Then Sarah and I went to Transit for Making Time. It was bananas. BA-NA-NAS:

I don't know what that horse was doing there but he danced pretty well. Please notice in his hand - Sparks. Now dead. And I never got to have one. Shucks.

I think that's technically hipster warpaint.

bringing the sun to me
i was starting this post with some crazy, poetic review of music i've listened to in the last year and why i'm getting more into afro-pop. but i'm cutting myself off.
it's upbeat, feel good, sunny music. that's all i should have to say about it.
along with Esau Mwamwaya, i've been really into the Bembeya Jazz National and El Guincho, who I put on my year end list of best albums for Urban Outfitters
