Amazing show at the TLA last night. I think there was a touch of spring fever.

Ben Kweller even cartwheeled off the stage.

Sam Taylor-Wood

I have admired Sam Taylor-Wood's work for many years. It's confrontational and discomforting and abrasive. She engages you and challenges you in one movement.

From her interview with the Guardian:

"The thing I find hardest to do is just to clear my head. My brain, to paraphrase David Bowie, is like a warehouse, and there's no room to spare."

Star of Africa

Story of the Cullinan Diamond :"In 1905, transport from South Africa to England posed a bit of a security problem. Detectives from London were placed on a steamer ship that was rumoured to carry the stone, but this was a diversionary tactic. The stone on that ship was a fake, meant to attract those who would be interested in stealing it. The actual diamond was sent to England in a plain box via parcel post, albeit registered mail."

One of my favourite stories. It was then made into nine different stones used in the British Crown Jewels and can be pieced together in different ways. Transformers diamonds.

Berlin Farmer's Market

lunch box

I took a trip up to the Berlin Farmers Market a couple of weekends ago. It was bizarre and one of those places that even the crappiest junk is tempting to have in your home. I'm going to say that I'm kind of grateful now I didn't buy the Snoopy phone/lamp hybrid.

But you can't walk away with nothing. That's right. I have a Care Bear Cousins lunch box now WITH the original thermos.

I'd swear I can smell the cotton of the sheets.

Man on Wire

I saw this film back in the summer and it's a beautiful documentary. A great story of a man possessed by the majestic twin towers. Fully deserving of its Oscar.

Now, if you'll excuse me I need to get back to my trapeze.

just how funny was it?
